Burlington Northern Santa Fe will expand its empty car placement guarantee program to include additional types of cars, effective March 25.

The Loading Origin Guarantees Program, or LOGS, will then include 53-foot and 65-foot gondolas, 60-foot and 62-foot bulkhead flat cars, hi- and low-capacity 56-foot bulkhead flat cars, and 89-foot 100-ton flat cars.

The program guarantees shippers empty equipment placement for their outbound shipments. Customers can reserve equipment up to 26 weeks in advance through an Internet-based blind bidding process.

The program began two years ago with centerbeam flat cars.
