Heavener, Oklahoma
is a crew- change point on the Kansas City Southern
mainline. These pictures, were taken on March 18th,
2002.
#758, is waiting for its crew, which is waiting for the arrival a
north-bound.
Heavener has a small maintenance facility which is where #651's
photo was shot.
The maintenance facility can make minor car and engine repairs.
If any one has an idea what L & A (Louisiana & Arkansas ?)
means - let us know. The caboose houses the Heavner Chamber of
Commerce.
The north bound finally arrives with #649 in the lead.
At the north part of Heavner, is a KCS coal train with BNSF in the
lead also sets idel.
One of the coolest things (I thought) was that the engines refueling
area was right on the mainline. Here #649, pulls up to the bar for
a drink and refreshment.
Still at the north end of Heavner, but south of the refueling area,
several engines set idiling including #
